This article is work in progress.

The following page contains resent design drafts for our internal paper prototyping process. At the moment, we try to define a unified concept for our user interface to make it easier to work with SONIVIS more intuitively.

Scenarios

We defined different scenarios in order to test our user interface.

  1. SONIVIS is started and now you would like to load a Interaction Network based on Wiki data.
  2. The complete Interaction Network is shown, but you would like to reduce the visualization to the namespace "Main" and two categories "Virtual reality“ and "Virtual community“.
  3. You would to identify the most dense areas in your network. Therefore you use the degree filter in order to visualize the core of the network. You set the minimal node degree to 25 and the minimal weight to 5.
  4. You want to visualize the Context Network.
  5. The node color and size should be changed within the context network. The node size should be mapped on the Page Size and the node color should be mapped on the Article Edit Count.
  6. Please identify the article (=node) in the network with the highest degree and highlight/find this node in the network.
  7. You want to export all calculated node values in a text format.

Overview after tool start

After selecting the required network the filter view is shown. The filter view comprises all for this network type available data...

Main Network View

Network analysis version A
Network analysis version B (agreed version)

Scenarios:

  1. Load a Wiki-based context network but consider only nodes that belong to namespace Null. These content elements are called articles and they are linked by Wiki-links.
  2. Filter the visualized Wiki-based context network that only nodes are visible that have degree > 4 and Betweenness < 3.

Constraints for filter elements

  • Filtering before network loading: No metric based filters
  • Question: Node types only actor and content elements?
  • Question: Edge types only relation elements?
  • Metric filter: Only applicable metrics (no edge metrics for node filter and the other way round)
